How is cPanel different from the WordPress dashboard?

blog-plx blog-plx2

cPanel manages the hosting account and server-level services available to that account. It controls files, databases, domain records, email, PHP settings, backups, and resource statistics. Changes there can affect the entire site or several sites hosted under the same account.

The WordPress dashboard manages content and application settings inside one WordPress installation. Editors use it for pages, posts, media, menus, users, themes, and plugins. It does not normally manage the domain registration, server storage, mail routing, or the hosting account itself.

The two interfaces have separate login details and different security implications. A WordPress editor may need permission to publish articles without access to server files. A developer with cPanel access can often read database credentials, replace site code, create mailboxes, or download private data, even without a WordPress administrator account.

Use the least access required for each task. Content staff should work in WordPress with an appropriate role. Give hosting access only to people who maintain infrastructure or need recovery tools. Keep both systems protected with unique passwords, two-factor authentication where available, and an up-to-date list of authorized users.
