What should you do about an ERR_NAME_NOT_RESOLVED error?

ERR_NAME_NOT_RESOLVED means the browser could not obtain a usable DNS answer for the hostname. Check the spelling and test whether both the root domain and www name fail. A missing record, expired domain, incorrect nameserver delegation, or DNSSEC problem can affect everyone, while a local resolver issue may affect one network.
Look up the domain’s registration status and authoritative nameservers. Then query the exact hostname for A, AAAA, or CNAME records. If the authoritative server returns no record or an error, correct the active DNS zone. Editing records at a former host will not help when the domain uses different nameservers.
If public resolvers return the correct answer, test another browser and network, then clear the local DNS cache or restart the router if appropriate. VPNs, parental controls, security software, and corporate DNS filters can intercept lookups. Compare the result with a known public resolver before changing the domain configuration.
After a recent DNS change, wait only when the authoritative response is correct and older cached data is still valid. An incorrect delegation, missing record, or failed DNSSEC validation requires a fix. Keep screenshots or command output with timestamps when asking the registrar, DNS provider, or network administrator for help.
